The Principal Life Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that our distribution channels adhere to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. Your primary responsibility will be to support our Life Insurance compliance efforts. You will work closely with our leadership team, agents, and other team members to promote a culture of compliance and integrity within the organization.
What you will do:
Collaborate with management to develop and update compliance policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Communicate policy changes effectively to all relevant stakeholders and ensure their understanding and implementation.
Implement monitoring and auditing processes to assess compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews of agent activities, documentation, and transactions to identify any potential compliance issues or areas for improvement. Ensure agents are properly licensed and appointed, using appropriate titles and designations.
Investigate compliance violations, complaints, and other issues as they arise, working closely with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve them promptly. Recommend and implement corrective actions and remediation plans to prevent future occurrences and mitigate risks. Address conflicts of interest and ensure product knowledge.
Partner with Learning & Development to create compliance-related training content and programs for agents, including regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and company policies. Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure that employees have the knowledge and resources necessary to maintain compliance. Promote client-focused sales and suitable recommendations.
Partner with AAA Life to ensure that our practices and procedures align with their guidelines. Implement policies for premium payments, replacements, and client file documentation and retention.
Stay informed about changes to laws, regulations, and industry standards relevant to insurance distribution and compliance. Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on our operations, providing guidance and recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance. Oversee advertising, fair competition, privacy/security, and anti-money laundering efforts.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities, including audits, investigations, training sessions, and policy updates. Prepare regular reports for management and regulatory agencies as required, summarizing compliance activities, findings, and outcomes. Report suspicious activity, provide AML training, and address fraud and telemarketing compliance.
What you need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Legal Studies or related field
- Master's Degree or Juris Doctor, preferred
- 8 years Insurance compliance experience, preferably within an agency or brokerage environment.
- CRCMP, AIRC certificates/designations
Salary: The pay range for this position base in Rhode Island is $114,000 - $139,500. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Annual bonuses are some of the additional forms of compensation offered.
