Engineer IV Workday - Payroll/Time Tracking Specialist
Under general supervision, serves as a lead technical contributor role.
Essential Functions
We target between minimum and midpoint of the range, and all offers are subject to a fair pay analysis - Compensation Range: Min: $131,860.00 - Mid: $188,370.00- Max: $244,882.00

Engineer IV Workday - Payroll/Time Tracking Specialist
Under general supervision, serves as a lead technical contributor role.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a key liaison between the Workday Support Team and the Payroll Team, providing functional support and remediation of the Payroll, Leave of Absence, and Time Tracking modules.
- Serve as the primary Workday configuration, integration and reporting professional for Payroll, Leave of Absence, and Time Tracking functionality.
- Utilize systems/analyst experience in the Payroll and Time Tracking modules.
- Design and Develop Reports, Complex Calculated Fields using Report writer and integration solutions in Workday using EIB’S, Custom Reports or RaaS solutions. Serve as a key liaison between business teams, 3rd party vendors and IT for system integrations and issue resolution.
- Build Advanced Calculated Fields using Report Writer and integrations using EIB’s to support client’s requirements.
- Work with APIs within the Workday environment using REST or SOAP and XSLT and XML programming Language.
- Utilize knowledge of Workday and experience integrating with 3rd party applications.
- Support pre and post payroll activities and payroll audits (e.g. Exempt/Nonexempt Term Audits, CA Audit Reports, High Gross/High Net Audits, Zero Net/Zero Gross, Review master data file quality and confirm time/payroll data completeness).
- Utilize knowledge of ERP, Workday System Concepts and Time Tracking, Payroll module functionality.
- Assist in resolving input errors and other errors from the third-party vendors or internal AAA (Tax, Treasury and Finance) stakeholders performing root cause analysis.
- Support Year-End Payroll processing activities (e.g. develop and provide payroll calendar, review year-end tax reports).
- Design, document, build, unit test and support functional tasks, configuration, and programs for Workday Payroll and Time Tracking projects.
- Research and participate in bi-annual releases to keep up to date on new Workday functionality to make recommendations for adoption.
- Support data extraction, audit controls and data quality alerts.
- Provide end-user support with troubleshooting and issue remediation.
- Research problems and identify opportunities on possible solutions with ultimate escalation to the Workday Support Team.
- Familiarity with the Absence module is a plus.
- Ensures the system is set up to support compliance with company policy, contract requirements, and federal and state payroll regulations
- Conducts ongoing audit and quality assurance to ensure data integrity, correct pay and tax practices
- Document, own and ensure sustainability of design documents, Architectural diagrams, process flows and other system/support documentations
- Acts as the liaison among the stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, communicate and validate business requirements regarding the Workday system
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Ten years people, business and technical experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Previous experience working with advanced tools and techniques in software development, data analysis and quality, business intelligence, warehouse or applications.
- Possess current Agile Certification and previous experience using Agile methodologies and processes in software development projects and engineering efforts.
- Seven years managing and supervising technical teams (preferred)
- Experience managing and supporting critical IT infrastructure (preferred)
- Experience with cloud technologies and implementations (preferred)
- Experience developing and executing innovative IT strategic plans (preferred)
- Experience managing operational budgets and expenses (preferred)
- Extensive experience with business intelligence tools in a data warehouse environment (preferred)
