The Electrical Specialist maintenance position requires an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an individual who has demonstrated in electrical maintenance/engineering/technical support positions and activities an exceptional ability to deal with very complex assignments with minimal supervision and an acceptable period of work experience in appropriate maintenance/engineering/technical work. The Specialist position is determined by the capabilities required, of the individual, by the type of work to be performed; i.e., the higher levels requiring the ability to handle increasingly complex work with minimal supervision.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and principles of operation and application of equipment including digital computers, programmable controllers, motor drives, micro-processor, data loggers and digital/analog feedback/interface control systems.
- Assumes a leadership position on assignments assuring a cooperative effort during start-ups, breakdowns, and trouble calls or when enhancing or improving a system.
- SME on at least one critical piece of equipment
- Demonstrated presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Perform and explain root cause analysis that incorporates equipment trends, work process improvements, and setup of reliability-based metrics
- Performs in a leadership/senior technician capacity
- Provides supervision with information concerning projects throughout assigned area
- Interfaces with maintenance/information services, manufacturing operations and engineering relative to the development and modification of procedures, methods, processes and equipment
- Assists in the securing and directing of outside contractors engaged in major repairs, and construction of installation of equipment including equipment vendors for assigned projects
- Makes recommendations of preventive maintenance procedures on electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical systems
- Provides written and/or verbal presentations pertaining to work assignments
- Establishes Preventative Maintenance's and written procedures for the calibration and set up of special instruments and devices
- Recommends and maintains the education needed to maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the job requirements
- Provides and maintains a co-operative and productive working relationship with employees, groups and vendors in a manner that fosters cooperation and considers customer/supplier relationships and the key principles of interpersonal interaction in all that is done
- Successfully completes, in a timely manner, all class room/OJT training, testing, job performance evaluations to meet the job requirements and various job classification criteria.
- Provides preliminary cost estimates for assigned projects
- Provides project management and development of functional descriptions for assigned projects, as defined in Engineering Department guidelines.
- Understands and adheres to the Company's Operating Model/ Continuous Improvement Philosophy/ Initiatives including supporting and/or participating in Team activities
- Understands and adheres to all Company policies and procedures
- Ability to organize, prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions
- Ability to conceptually develop and manage large assignments including following/developing the appropriate standards and procedures with minimal supervision of engineer, supervisor or manager
- Proficiency demonstrated in Drives, Allen-Bradley and Siemens S7 PLC's, AC/DC Motors, Level 1/11 HMI PC's & Servers, Networks, Databases, Communications, Security, Operating Systems, Special and Legacy systems
- Handles process PC/Server/HMI/Allen-Bradley and Siemens S7 PLC/ ORV system problems.
- Answers calls 24/7 to assist shift electricians with complex troubleshooting
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support the business
- 7 - 10 years relevant experience as determined by department management
- 2 Year College/Associate's Degree in the electrical/electronic discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management
- Minimum Level V Maintenance Technician
