ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA).
The University of Michigan is seeking a Transfusion Medicine physician at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join a high-volume, hospital-based transfusion service at an academic tertiary medical center.
Qualified candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. and be board-certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, or other clinical specialty with the corresponding American Board certification. Board-certification or anticipated board-certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology is required. The successful candidate will also participate in medical education and research activities. More experienced candidates will be considered for the role of Director of the Blood Bank Laboratory.
The position requires shared service responsibilities in general blood banking, immunohematology, apheresis, and cellular collections with additional opportunities in routine and special coagulation, histocompatibility, or other clinical pathology specialties.
Faculty appointment will be in the Department of Pathology with academic rank commensurate with experience and track record of achievement. Abundant opportunities to develop and/or participate in basic, translational, and health services research programs exist within the University of Michigan. The Department of Pathology has over 200 faculty and consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding. The clinical laboratories serve the patients and world-class providers of University of Michigan Health. Ann Arbor is ranked as one of the most livable cities in the country, with urban amenities, natural beauty, and a strong sense of community.
