Machine Operator/Material Handler

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate various equipment used in concrete block manufacturing.
• Assure proper product consistency.
• Perform PM’s and Operator Care PM’s daily when not in production.
• Complete the daily cleaning standard on assigned equipment and production areas.
• Assist Senior Electrician and Sr. Mechanic on equipment repairs and upgrades as needed.
• Be willing and able to cross-train on other jobs in the plant and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical school a plus.
• 2-year technical education and/or Associate's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1-year industrial experience or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
• Maintain the highest level of safety, and perform and adhere to all company safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
• Must be able to speak and read the English language fluently while having good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

• Wear a respirator when required. (Fit testing to be provided by company).
• Prolonged standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds, bending, crawling, climbing, and kneeling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, noise level is moderate. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 40 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, hardhats, gloves, aprons. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Exposure to chemicals and/or fumes probable.
