Physician
Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) is a community health center that provides outpatient medical services and treatments to patients within the scope of professional training, experience, ability, and licensure. Examine patients and prepare medical histories; diagnose patients, and administer, prescribe, and order indicated and required medical services, treatments, evaluations, and procedures. Provide medical advice, guidance, and instruction to patients; prepare summaries, evaluations, medical records, and other medial documentation. Performs a variety of related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive primary care, health maintenance and medical care to new and established patients and their families, including preventive care, behavioral, pediatric care, and community health care.
- Performs physical examinations of new and existing patients and orders the diagnostic tests required to baseline relevant values.
- Interprets examination findings and test results to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans with patients and other care team members.
- Prepares and reviews patient case histories, interviewing patients and family members to diagnose presenting problems
- Facilitates health and disease patient education, including leading group office visits and annual preventive visits. Supports patient self-management of disease and behavior modification interventions.
- Determines need for consultation or referral and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists. As indicated, refers patients to affiliated subspecialists or for inpatient treatment.
- Collaborates with a multilevel, multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff to provide outpatient services as scheduled, following appropriate quality and productivity standards of care.
- Collaborates with Behavioral Health and Wellness colleagues to integrate health, behavioral health, and wellness care for all AACI patients.
- Participates in clinical quality improvement processes, peer reviews and certifications.
- Performs charting and utilizes Electronic Health Records
- Utilizes standing orders and other generally accepted care practices to enable other team members to practice to the top of their licenses.
- As appropriate, supervises and teaches mid-level providers, residents, and medical students.
- Participates in team meetings, data collection, health outcomes reporting, clinical audits, program evaluation, and quality improvement.
- On a rotational basis, serves as an on-call physician for afterhours support.
- Provides coverage for other clinicians when needed
- Adheres to established internal policies, procedures and objectives
- May participate in outside events such as health fairs and other community health related activities.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of pediatrics.
- Minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Board Certification.
- Active, unrestricted professional license to practice medicine in the state of California.
- Unrestricted, active DEA license.
- BLS certification.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- High level of written skills.
- Ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of family medicine, general internal medicine, or pediatrics.
- Knowledge of the local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to medicine and to community health centers.
- English language proficiency required. Proficiency in another language (Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, or Vietnamese) preferred.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Working conditions
Work is often conducted in an office environment inside a standard clinic setting. Basic safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear is required. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Utilizes language interpretation services as needed. Exposure to all patient elements, including communicable disease and blood borne pathogens.
