Position Description Summary
The Research Associate supports and helps manage the Genentech-funded project, “Mobilizing a Pharmacy Advances Clinical Trials (PACT) Network and Community-based Organizations to Address Diversity in Clinical Trials”. The Research Associate will be responsible for the operational management of various aspects of the project; will implement project administrative and research activities; and support day- to-day tasks, including project workplan development and tracking, database and document management, project team coordination, engagement and support, and additional related tasks. The Research Associate also supports other projects under the strategy and diversity team, as needed.
Essential Functions
- Assists with planning and implementation of project surveys, focus groups
- Assists with development and implementation of educational components for community pharmacists
- Assists with development and implementation of the project model assessment evaluation tool, and related analyses
- Assists with documentation/data compilation, management and presentation related to the association strategic plan and other health equity projects
- Attend project-related webinars and summarize project-related information from webinars
- Conducts literature reviews and compiles project-relevant resources
- Contributes to the development and monitors overall project workplan
- Coordinates project team activities and meetings
- Develops and implements project progress and results dissemination and publication plan
- Directly manages various aspects of the project’s research-related activities
- Manages project information on AACP DEIA webpage
- Participates in project grant awardee support and engagement activities with funder (e.g., check-in meetings, LinkedIn group)
- Prepares materials and reports for submission to funder
- Prepares project correspondence, documents and reports
- Prepares, reviews, organizes and verifies data obtained from surveys and focus groups; conducts data analyses
- Other project tasks, as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and also collaboratively in teams
- Advanced degree in pharmaceutical sciences, health services research, public health or other science-related fields (e.g., biology, chemistry).
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to complete detailed work accurately
- Experience working with community-based organizations and community populations desirable
- Familiar with or willingness to learn theoretical models and principles related to this project, such as theories of Reasoned Action, Planned Behavior and other health behavioral models; process evaluation (formative and summative); NIMHHD research framework; implementation science principles
- Knowledge of grants management desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), surveying tools, web-conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams). and technology applications (Sharepoint, Basecamp); Google platforms; Canva
- Scientific research methods, pharmaceutical, or policy knowledge and experience preferred
- Sound judgement for troubleshooting and resolving matters
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Three or more years of post-degree work experience, demonstrating strong project/program management and database management skills
