Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Registrar. The Registrar will ensure the efficient management of academic records, student enrollment, and institutional compliance with academic policies and regulations. As a key administrative leader, the registrar oversees critical functions that support student success, faculty operations, and institutional integrity.

Primary Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight in developing and refining office policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and quality of services offered by the Office of the Registrar.
  • Collaborate with school deans to develop, implement, and revise academic policies and curricula to ensure alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards; provide guidance to the university community in interpreting and applying policies and procedures, fostering consistency and compliance; develop the annual academic calendar, outlining key dates and events throughout the academic year.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for staff collaborating with Information Technology services and other relevant departments to identify, implement, and integrate new technologies.
  • Provide strategic leadership by directing, mentoring, and guiding Registrar staff; collaborate with the team to establish clear direction, priorities, and goals that align with institutional objectives; conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support professional development and operational excellence.
  • Serve as the primary custodian of student academic records, overseeing the development and implementation of policies and standards to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance; act as the University Compliance Officer for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Develop and manage the annual department budget by analyzing historical data, enrollment trends, institutional growth, and technological advancements; Forecast fiscal needs and allocate resources strategically to support the Registrar’s Office operations and the University’s evolving priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Management, or related field with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology to deliver records and registration services.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following experience and demonstrated abilities are highly valued:

  • Experience in data governance and ensuring the integrity of academic data across platforms.
  • Ability to lead process optimization efforts to improve registration, academic record management, and related processes.
  • Ability to address and resolve complex academic and administrative issues, such as discrepancies in academic records or scheduling conflicts.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $109,212. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
