Binghamton University (https://www.binghamton.edu/), one of four research universities in the State University of New York System, seeks a dedicated, experienced, and highly motivated professional to serve as Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (VPEM). The university is seeking a leader who will work with a dynamic president and provost toward a shared vision of becoming the premier public institution in the nation.
A vibrant, R1 public research university, which is consistently ranked in the top 75 universities in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Binghamton continues to improve the quality of both undergraduate and graduate education by seeking to vigorously support the scholarly, creative, and research endeavors of its faculty. In Fall 2024, Binghamton enrolled over 14,000 undergraduate students and over 4,000 graduate students, with a total of 54,000 applications. Binghamton continues to have a diverse class, with the geographic distribution reflecting New York state’s population. About 30% of new students are from Upstate New York, 6% from Broome and Tioga counties, 24% from Long Island, and 28% from New York City. Binghamton also welcomed 585 new international students to the campus community this past fall.
The VPEM reports directly to Provost Donald Hall (https://www.binghamton.edu/academics/provost/donald-e-hall-biography.html) and leads the operations of recruitment, undergraduate admissions, and financial aid. The role oversees a team of over 70 staff and an annual operating budget of $7 million (not including financial aid dollars). Overall, the VPEM works with senior administration to set undergraduate enrollment goals for the campus, lead recruitment and yield efforts, and devise strategies for entering and succeeding in new recruitment markets, and use data to make optimal decisions regarding financial aid. The VPEM will also work collaboratively with other campus offices on retention strategies and build on the extraordinary success of a unit that has met and exceeded all targets in previous years. This success has led Binghamton to be recognized as one of the most desirable destinations for undergraduates in the nation. In addition, Binghamton University remains deeply committed to attracting and supporting a diverse student population and expects the VPEM to share this value. The successful VPEM candidate will be an innovative and strategic enrollment manager.
