In this role, you will collaborate with medical technologists to prepare, examine, and analyze laboratory samples and specimens. Your skills will contribute to diagnostic testing in chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and blood banking, ensuring accurate and reliable patient results. QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience assisting technologists in the preparation, examination, and analysis of laboratory samples and specimens.
Knowledge of medical laboratory procedures, including chemical, microbiologic, hematologic, and blood banking testing.
Ability to perform laboratory tests and examinations and prepare detailed reports of findings.
Experience in technical medical laboratory support or a closely related field requiring the application of laboratory methods and techniques.
Proficiency in setting up and operating specialized medical equipment and laboratory apparatus.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must have current immunization records.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT :
GS-3 Level :
Completion of a full-time, one-year training program in a medical or clinical laboratory assistant / technician school, including coursework in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology, along with supervised laboratory practice.
OR One year of college study with at least 6 semester hours in chemistry and / or biological sciences.
GS-4 Level :
Completion of an associate degree program, with the second year including a one-year certified laboratory assistant training course approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
OR One year of college study with 6 semester hours in chemistry and / or biological sciences, plus completion of the GS-3 training course.
OR Two years of college study with at least 12 semester hours in chemistry and / or biological sciences, directly related to the position.
GS-5 Level :
Completion of a four-year bachelors degree with a major in a relevant field.
OR 24 semester hours in coursework related to the position, such as chemistry, biology, or other applicable sciences.
