What background is best suited to consult through AAIM?
- HR professionals with a minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or Business Partner and 2 years providing consulting services.
- Successful support within various industries is a plus, such as manufacturing, banking/financial services, non-profit, construction, retail/hospitality, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Resources discipline, or similar.
- Certification through SHRM or HRCI.
- Excellent customer services skills, high attention to detail, are self-motivated and collaborative.
- A service-focused, solutions driven mindset - ready to answer questions, find solutions, and provide clear communication each step of the way.
- Ability to support onsite at Member facilities in the greater St. Louis area. While some projects may allow hybrid or remote work, most organizations value an HR presence on-site to engage directly with employees or other team members.
- Commitment to excellence for success in short or long-term engagements.
What are AAIM HR Consultants asked to do?
It's quite simple - help member organizations tackle their unique HR challenges! It's hard to say exactly what each engagement will bring, but our typical projects support many of the following:
- Employee Relations & Compliance - Answer employee questions about policies, assist with conflict resolution, document employee concerns, and ensure disciplinary actions follow company guidelines.
- Workforce Planning & Recruiting Support - Post job openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and assist with offer letters and pre-employment processes.
- Onboarding & Offboarding - Process new hire paperwork, coordinate orientations, set up employee files, ensure I-9 compliance, and assist with exit paperwork and final pay.
- Policy & Handbook Development - Review and update handbooks with current policies, clarify workplace expectations, and help communicate policy changes to employees.
- HR Compliance & Recordkeeping - Audit personnel files for missing documents, update employee records, maintain confidentiality, and ensure legal compliance with record retention.
- Performance Management - Track performance review deadlines, assist managers in documenting employee feedback, and ensure proper documentation for coaching or corrective actions.
- HR Technology & Process Improvement - Enter and update employee data in HRIS, troubleshoot timekeeping or payroll issues, and ensure smooth HR system functionality.
- Training & Development - Coordinate logistics for training sessions, track employee attendance and completion, and distribute training materials.
AAIM Consultants will be self-employed, however, will receive the benefit of AAIM's investment in business development, marketing, HR resources, and billing administration - allowing them to focus on effective HR consulting! Additionally, when a Consultant is working with an AAIM member, they have access to the entirety of AAIM's resource library in order to best support any initiative the member may have!
