About The Role
The MRO Category Manager will collaborate with a cross functional group of stakeholders to develop category strategies including the analysis of data and then execute on those strategies working with internal stakeholders as well as suppliers and contractors, with the end result of optimizing the spend effectiveness and efficiencies for the Category of capital equipment, construction and MRO.
Responsibilities
Work with manufacturing and functional leaders to develop and drive category strategies for the Capital Equipment, Construction and MRO Categories (asset life cycle management).
Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, commerce, engineering or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience in a similar procurement discipline.

About The Role
The MRO Category Manager will collaborate with a cross functional group of stakeholders to develop category strategies including the analysis of data and then execute on those strategies working with internal stakeholders as well as suppliers and contractors, with the end result of optimizing the spend effectiveness and efficiencies for the Category of capital equipment, construction and MRO.
Responsibilities
Work with manufacturing and functional leaders to develop and drive category strategies for the Capital Equipment, Construction and MRO Categories (asset life cycle management).
- Identify and develop key suppliers and establish - maintain agreements within the North American region, leveraging opportunities to deliver best value for AAK.
- Manage complex multi-year supplier relationships and lead negotiations with these suppliers as well as potential dispute resolutions.
- Support initiatives and processes targeted at improving operational and supply chain execution, customer service levels, and the optimization of the "total cost of ownership” (TCO) for the Capital and MRO categories.
- Ensuring sourcing and contracting strategies are implemented and TCO reductions are secured at all levels of the categories.
- Implement business specific purchasing procedures at a country level, where needed in collaboration with other business functions.
- Oversee the development and execution of strategies through the strategic sourcing process including the management of bidding processes.
- Participate and collaborate with other category managers, procurement managers and local organizations including maintenance and engineering who share in the accountability for optimal equipment life cycle management. Share best practices and learnings.
- Translate regional-global procurement strategy into detailed category plans with a set of measurable regional, and local targets and facilitate procurement processes and policies for regional-global alignment
- Measure and track performance of the category via financial performance, TCO, ESG improvements and supplier development
- Collaborate with finance, engineering and the maintenance functions in managing and improving working capital year over year
- Insure proper and effective contracting and execution with vendors which effectively manages legal and other risks.
- Adhere to company governance, compliance and sustainability targets.
Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, commerce, engineering or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience in a similar procurement discipline.
- At least 5 years as a procurement professional, with a proven track record of implementing procurement strategies; preferably within the fats and oils, chemical or other capital intensive process industry
- Experience and knowledge of Procurement Processes (sourcing and purchasing) in business-to-business context.
- Strong knowledge on capital project execution and on process industry related assets through their life cycle
- Integral understanding of both direct and indirect spend management within an international/global business.
- Ability to work with leadership teams at sites and regional/global teams.
- Strong influencing, change management, and negotiation skills.
- Results orientation with experience in change management
- Excellent communication, analytical and technical skills; capable in various ERP and Microsoft packages
