About The Role
The Maintenance Instrument Control Technician (MICT) is involved with the successful daily operation of vegetable oil processing/packaging facility, and the modification, maintenance and alteration of the plant automated controls and power systems (to 480VAC) to accommodate business needs and increase plant availability. This requires close collaboration with other employees, the Instrument Controls Engineer and the Maintenance & Reliability Manager to assure safe work and to set or re-set job priorities. There are no formal reports for this position with the exception of work order system updates, documentation as required to document changes in plant physical or logic changes and documentation to meet our goals of safety first, quality work and compliance with our customers’ requirements and concerns. When not handling Instrument Controls duties this position will continue to provide successful daily maintenance of the oil refining and packaging facility. It is the function of this position to preserve assets so that they can safely and economically continue to provide benefit to the organization. The maintenance technician will work continuously to improve maintenance service and assist in the continuous improvement of all processes within the organization. The Maintenance position is responsible for correcting any minor issues to any piece of equipment on the K1 and K2 premises. There is preventative maintenance they must perform, as well as administrative duties with paperwork and work orders.

Safety & Environmental Performance
Lead the safety effort by personal example.
Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
Support 0 contractor accidents during major construction or anytime maintenance contractors are on site.
Identify high-risk safety/ productivity issues and help remedy them.
Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.
Work Requirements
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot, all types of factory instruments including, but not limited to temperature, pH, pressure, PLCs, wiring and flow field devices from the field indicators to PLC interface.
Basic understanding of programming Diagnosis, repair and program PLC logic for troubleshooting, process changes, and improvements.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot single and three phase industrial motors, VFD’s, electrical distribution and protection circuits up to 480VAC.
Document all work using CDs, P&IDs, logic prints.
Analyzing Conditions and Providing Solutions - Identifying and examining production equipment failures to understand root cause analysis, with the help of interpreting schematics and drawings. Investigating and repairing electrical & mechanical systems such as: pneumatics, hydraulics, DC circuits, drives and conveyors.
Continuous Improvement – Making electrical improvements that impact results for the operating lines
Preventative Maintenance – Completing assigned preventative maintenance on your shift
Collaborate and Engage – Working with various departments across your assigned location at the site, including operations and support resources to deliver results meet business needs
Execute, Install, maintain, troubleshoot and routine preventative maintenance of all packaging equipment, conveyor systems, steam and condensate systems, pumps and piping systems, and refrigeration systems
Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, ladder logic and electrical schematics.
Maintain Facilities: lighting, windows, doors, roofs, etc.
Utilize, respond, and document all scheduled and unscheduled work orders in the Direct Line CMMS system.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to supervisor or manager.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and regulations.
Provide practical solutions to the following priorities:
Emergency corrective maintenance daily and call-ins
Execution of capital and maintenance projects.
Audit preventive/ predictive maintenance
Routine planned maintenance
Assist in scope, estimate, and execute small capital / maintenance projects along with maintenance manager/ project director/ operations, if time permits.
Oversee the work by contractors as required on site to assure safety, quality, efficiency, and performance.
Seek out opportunities to help work get done safer, faster and more cost effective.
Heavy lifting with vigorous physical activity in an often hot and slippery environment
Required to work 12-hour rotating night shifts and weekends
Participate in company activities such as: Safety Committee, Audit committees, employee task forces, etc.
Cost Control
Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing downtime, scrap, poor quality, accidents, utility usage and reduced productivity in pursuit of your daily work.
Use predictive maintenance techniques to assist in the planning of major repairs.
Support goal of minimum part sparing consistent with production goals and local vendor sport services.
Work to support cost management in the reduction of costs by analyzing both the need and improved efficiencies in all department’s quantity of spare parts prior to purchase.
Support management and purchasing to find the lowest cost on equipment, tools, and supplies.
About You
Qualifications include:
2 Year Technology degree in related field (can be in the last semester of school), OR 2 years electrical experience, OR Military experience in an advanced electronics field
Minimum 3-5 Years Industrial Maintenance Experience
High School Degree or GED required
Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent (Preferred but not required)
Certification In Welding (Preferred)
Certification in electrical with emphasis on industrial (Preferred)
Certification In Refrigeration, Both Freon And Ammonia (Preferred)
General knowledge of conveyor systems (Preferred)
General Knowledge Of Packaging Equipment (Preferred)
General knowledge of automation PLC’s, ladder logic, etc. (Preferred)
General Knowledge Of Plumbing And Pipefitting (Preferred)
General knowledge of HVAC systems (Preferred)
Knowledge And Of CMMS (Preferred)
Must be detailed oriented with the ability to explain the following:multi-task without sacrificing safety and accuracy
Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts and computer programs weekends
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
