Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Ensure quality requirements and policies are followed in daily plant activities
- Maintain the Quality Assurance Program from incoming materials through finished goods inventory including adjustments
- Work with Quality Manager to help ensure site maintains IATF16949 & Q4 certification status
- Work with Quality Manager and Quality Engineer(s) to establish training concerning quality techniques; Train associates and quality inspectors as needed
- Maintain relationship of mutual trust and respect with associates and customers
- Work with Quality Manager and Quality Engineer(s) to correct customer complaints in a timely manner
- Maintain and update document control system
- Supervise team of quality inspectors
- Review and communicate customer scorecards to site leadership
- Prepare and conduct internal and customer audits
- Maintain gage calibration system
- Assist Quality Engineer(s) in collecting, analyzing, reporting and monitoring quality performance in areas of rejects, scrap, rework, supplier performance
- Use precision gages, computers, statistical methods, as well as other equipment, to perform Quality Assurance functions; including but not limited to, laboratory and testing control, equipment calibration, operation training and evaluation, methods of quality assurance, records retention and information integrity
- Maintain product and process measurements to provide the necessary information to manufacturing process control according to control plan requirements, quality standards, product or process specification, documentation via quality instructions, training, evaluation, etc.
- Ensure customer parts meet tolerance and specification requirements
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness of quality information feedback to departments that are responsible for product and process evaluation and quality improvements
- Maintain direct contact with all plant personnel with matters relating to Quality
- Assist with special projects, capability studies, statistical process control, and equipment/process evaluations as required
- Interface with all other departments concerning quality issues
- Promote continuous improvement throughout the organization
- Maintain the plant gage and layout system to ensure an effective MSA system
- Support Quality Engineer(s) in correctly gathering data used in submitting customer PPAPs and supporting documentation (control plan, FMEA, process flow, etc.)
- Review daily discrepant material
- Be an active Leader in problem solving teams (5-Why, 8D and experience in other problem-solving tools
- Able to sit/stand for 8-12 hours
- Frequent lifting/moving 5-50 pounds
- Must have use of hand(s) to reach, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
- Must have ability to engage in conversation through talking and hearing
- Frequent pushing/pulling/sitting/bending/stooping/kneeling
- Occasional hot indoor conditions (Summer months)
- Occasional extreme cold conditions (Winter months)
- Moderately loud noise levels
- Wearing proper PPE; including, but not limited to, steel toe/composite safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses and bump cap/helmet while on the plant floor
Required Skills and Education
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in quality manufacturing environment
- Formal training in FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA and SPC
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Operating knowledge of Plex
- Prior Lean Kaizen manufacturing experience
- Formal training in FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA and SPC
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IATF16949
- Strong knowledge of Supplier Quality Program
- Knowledge of statistical methods and sampling techniques
- Understanding of 5S
- Must show willingness to demonstrate S4 principles in daily job duties
