Job Description Summary

#TeamAAM is looking for a CMM Technician to join our team in Detroit, MI.

The successful Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Technician is one that is conscientious, detail orientated, and a self-starter able to work from a verbal or written instruction. They are committed to quality, precision, and timeliness in their deliverables. These deliverables are achieved while maintaining a safe and organized working environment. Job Description

• Utilizes CMM using PC-DMIS CAD software and inspection equipment i.e., height gauges, micrometers, bore gauges, surface analyzer, etc. to measure/layout complex components to engineering requirements.
• Writes CMM programs and programs CMM using CAD models and/ or blueprints to measure complex components to verify conformance to engineering specifications and standards.
• Interprets and understands complex technical documentation such as blueprints and specifications.
• Performs and certifies inspections & tests in accordance with technical documentation.
• Maintains inspection documentation (written, electronic and photographic).
• Successfully completes measurements and tasks on time to aggressive schedules.
• Maintains excellent housekeeping and safety practices.
• Follows all AAM safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates flexibility on job assignments.
• All other duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills And Education

• Associate's Technical degree plus 2 years of experience in a mechanical or electronics related field OR High School Diploma or GED plus 5 years of experience in a mechanical or electronics related field.
• 5 years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or prototype manufacturing operations.
• CMM programming with PC-DMIS software and inspection layout.
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
• Proficient computer skills, especially in MS Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with dynamic priorities.
• High level of problem-solving skills to identify/perform root cause analysis on machining and/or assembly issues and offer recommendations for resolution.
• Ability to work independently while exhibiting teamwork skills with co-workers and others; strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with management, engineering, suppliers, customers, and other key stakeholders.
• Ability to manually lift and manipulate heavy objects (Up to 50 lbs.). Ability to use lift assist devices for heavier objects.
• Availability and willingness to work overtime if required, including weekends.
