What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Driver position at AAMA Sanchez Charter School?
BASIC FUNCTION : Ensure the safe and orderly transportation of middle and high school students and others on assigned bus route to and from school and other authorized locations including special events. Ensures vehicle is in a safe operating condition at all times. You will work approximately 25-30 hours weekly for our north campus location on Rittenhouse Road.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Texas CDL (Class B with Passenger Endorsement), No record of DUI convictions or other moving violations. Valid Texas School Bus Driver Safety Training Certificate. Current DOT physical and must be able to pass DOT mandated physical exam as required. Previous experience driving a school bus or transporting passengers. Ability to read an write well and interact professionally with students, parents and others. Stronly prefer bilingual in Spanish.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Observes all traffic laws and safety regulations and AAMA policies and procedures for school buses.
- Maintains safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the bus. Appropriately responds to emergency situations.
- Maintains appropriate student discipline during transport. Reports student incidents to the appropriate supervisors.
- Follows assigned route and adhere to set schedules. Transports only authorized students.
- Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections and submit work orders as necessary.
- Communicates with department personnel, school personnel and parents about student behavior while on the bus.
- Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled.
- Properly operates all assigned communications equipment.
- Reports all accidents, vehicle damage and student injuries as they occur to supervisor.
- Completes and submit all required reports and documentation.
