SUMMARY: Coordinate activities of the shipping and receiving team. Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments, proper inventory and adherence to established procedures and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the overall supply chain and logistics operations. Implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of shipping and receiving personnel, providing guidance, training, and input towards performance evaluations.
- Coordinates and oversees the daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring that shipments are accurately processed, packaged, and prepared for transportation.
- Collaborates with internal departments, including procurement, warehouse, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination of orders and shipments.
- Monitors inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages and maintains accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and documented to prevent damage and errors during transit.
- Addresses and resolves any issues or discrepancies related to shipments, such as delays, damaged goods, or order discrepancies.
- Utilizes shipping software and systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and generate reports on shipping activities.
- Optimizes shipping processes and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines.
- Provides training to new team members and conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team's skills and knowledge.
- Collaborates with carriers, suppliers, and other external partners to coordinate transportation and logistics activities.
- Supports the implementation of new shipping technologies and tools to enhance operational capabilities.
- Analyzes shipping data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
- Assists in the development and implementation of shipping-related policies, procedures, and best practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in shipping and logistics.
Certification(s): Forklift, Crane
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of shipping processes, transportation modes, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and systems for tracking and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle shipping-related challenges effectively.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
- Requires working in a manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
