Description

Job Summary:
Manages the Purchasing Department and all procurement activities for AAON. Represents AAON in formulating policies and negotiating contracts with suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Negotiates contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Evaluates contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Ensures requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment are prepared and executed.
  • Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Coordinates activities with the Scheduling and Manufacturing Departments to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Analyzes market and delivery systems to determine present and future material availability.
  • Analyzes price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
  • Confers with personnel, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services, and then determines corrective action.
  • Maintains computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
  • Manages, plan and direct the work of Buyers and Purchasing Agents.
  • Hire and train new staff and assigned Sr. Buyers to facilitate training.
  • Develops an organization’s procurement rules and regulations.
  • Establishes guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept and which vendors to consider.
  • Coordinates with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Manages the maintenance of office/manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Ensures that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Prepares cost estimates and manages budgets.
  • Works to improve purchasing systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency on demanding business decisions.
  • Work as a Liaison amongst all business units and partner with Key Leaders to find solutions as business demands.
  • Evaluates quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services.

 

Qualifications


Educational Requirements:

Degree(s): Bachelor’s Degree or or minimum 8 years equivalent experience in the HVAC industry or a similar industry is required.
License(s): None
Certification(s): None

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Lift up to 25lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
