AAP Staff is seeking a skilled Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join a food mfg facility’s maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the proper operation of refrigeration systems that support food and perishable storage environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Operation & Maintenance: Monitor, operate, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair issues related to refrigeration systems, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, calibrations, and routine servicing of ammonia refrigeration and cooling equipment.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure OSHA, EPA, and PSM (Process Safety Management) compliance for ammonia refrigeration operations.
- Emergency Response: Act as a first responder for ammonia leaks or system malfunctions, following proper safety protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs, maintenance reports, and safety checklists in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with maintenance teams, engineers, and operations personnel to improve system efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in ammonia refrigeration maintenance, preferably in a cold storage or food production environment.
- Certifications: RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) certification preferred. EPA Universal Certification required.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of PSM, mechanical integrity, and refrigeration cycle principles.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and repair refrigeration issues efficiently under pressure.
- Safety Focused: Knowledge of HAZMAT, emergency response protocols, and ammonia system safety.
- Team Player: Ability to communicate and collaborate with other maintenance personnel and facility management.
