Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Provider - Life Coach, to join our team in providing support to high-functioning developmentally disabled adults within their home environment. This position is in Nampa, Idaho. As a Direct Care Provider - Life Coach, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with daily living activities and fostering their independence and social integration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their home setting.
- Assist participants with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, household chores, and medication management.
- Implement individualized support plans and behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of supervisors and behavioral specialists.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment that promotes independence, community integration, and socialization.
- Encourage participation in recreational and social activities both within the home and in the community.
- Document participant progress, behaviors, and any incidents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including case managers, therapists, and family members, to ensure coordinated care and support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Reliable and compassionate with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
- Must pass background check(s).
Behavioral Challenges and Redirection:
- Redirecting disruptive behaviors such as verbal outbursts, physical aggression, or self-injurious behavior in a calm and compassionate manner.
- Implementing positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and discourage negative behaviors.
- Providing sensory stimulation or relaxation techniques to alleviate anxiety or agitation.
- Collaborating with behavior specialists and support team members to develop and implement behavior support plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
- Maintaining a structured environment with clear expectations and boundaries to minimize disruptive behaviors.
- Utilizing de-escalation techniques to defuse tense situations and prevent escalation.
