Data Engineer Intern (Summer)

Responsibilities

Documentation & Assessment Document processes and monitor pipeline performance across platforms Create best practice guidelines for Databricks users to reduce storage costs Databricks Optimization Audit Databricks usage to compile reports for cost analysis and storage optimization Develop a recommendation model to identify optimal cluster configurations within Databricks Investigate opportunities to leverage AI tools to optimize workflows and enhance data quality Collaboration Participate in strategic planning within the data analytics group Collaborate with Databricks users in various teams to better understand user needs Communicate key findings and recommendations to leadership as well as Databricks users Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, information systems, or a related field Knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (AWS experience is a plus) Programming experience with Python, SQL, or other scripting languages Interest in AI and automation technologies, with a willingness to research and experiment Preferred Skills : Familiarity with analytic tools like Funnel.io, Tableau, Databricks, or similar platforms Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in documenting technical processes A proactive and collaborative attitude, with an ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Additional Requirements Regular and reliable job attendance Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships In office / open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise Hybrid Work Environment AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
