The External Engagement and Special Projects Director will be responsible for developing a strategic plan and calendar for AARP Foundations’ President’s external engagements, ensuring their positioning aligns with key stakeholders and partners. You will collaborate with the Executive Writer to coordinate external communications, ensuring consistency with the Foundation’s strategic objectives. Additionally, you will take on special projects as needed, serving in a project management capacity to drive key initiatives forward.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with colleagues and management to develop and execute multi-platform outreach strategies for priority releases and projects to inform, educate, and influence internal and external audiences.
- Serves as lead point-of-contact for cross-enterprise work on publications, external relations, and videos.
- Produces or provides guidance to staff on video content.
- Promotes and positions releases and projects with various internal teams and business units.
- Develops and manages opportunities for experts / content to show up externally.
- Participates in and actively contributes to integration workgroups.
- Leads and / or implements contractual agreements between AARP and external vendors.

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
