We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locums Cognitive Neurology Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Wethersfield, CT, to provide care in our Neuro ICU. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a Neuro ICU setting, particularly in the areas of acute stroke, acute head and spine trauma, neurosurgery, neurology, and critical care. The selected candidate will provide high-quality care for 6-9 ICU patients per night, managing complex neurological conditions, including acute stroke, head / spine trauma, and post-surgical neurosurgical patients. The nurse practitioner will perform necessary procedures, including central line and arterial line (A-line) insertions. In addition, the provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans for critically ill patients in the Neuro ICU. The NP will participate in night shifts from 6 : 30 PM to 7 : 30 AM / 8 AM, working 3-4 nights per week. The nurse practitioner will also utilize critical thinking skills to monitor patient progress, interpret diagnostic results, and make necessary interventions to ensure optimal outcomes. The role will involve providing support for patients and families, offering education on neurological conditions and care needs. Adherence to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and clinical guidelines is required in the care of patients. Qualifications Experience working in Neuro ICU, with a strong background in handling critical neurological cases, including acute strokes and trauma cases. Proven ability to perform procedures such as central lines and A-lines. Board Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Active Connecticut (CT) state license. ACLS certification required.
