Shipping
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading.
- Ensure that yeast shipments are loaded onto the proper truck.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons for LTL shipments.
- Stamp, stencil, or glue, identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments are properly loaded/stacked on trucks.
- Operate forklift or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from storage or work area to trucks.
- Load cream yeast onto cream trucks and properly documents paperwork.
- Ship fresh yeast packaging products, AB Mauri factored goods, and other purchased baking commodities onto refrigerated trucks, and properly documents paperwork.
- Maintain the storage and identification of inbound factory goods in the plant warehouse.
- Interface/communicate with customer service representatives about immediate outbound shipments.
- Develop and maintain excellent repertoire with drivers and vendors.
- Ship confirms all products shipped, ensuring accuracy of lot codes and quantities.
- Unload railcars and barges.
- Unpack/examine incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and records shortages/overages.
- Inspect/unload incoming pallets. Store properly outdoors and rotate into the packaging product area.
- Receive bulk chemicals for storage into the bulk chemical tanks per standard operating procedures.
- Receive palletized raw materials per standard operating procedures.
- Receive purchased factory goods product.
Production Area
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Insert items into containers.
- Nail covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
- Read work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Open containers.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Secure lifting attachments to materials and convey load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers. Route items to proper department.
- Stack or assemble materials into bundle and bands bundles together.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist, and clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Shovel loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
- Operate floor scrubber to clean aisles and work areas on a daily basis.
- Sweep and mop floors inside of building and warehouse.
- Operate pressure washer to clean tanks, dikes, and plant exterior and interior.
- Set up packaging department at the beginning of the shift with pallets, paper wrapping materials, oils, boxes, and paper bags.
- Set up the packaging department staging area with FIFO paper wraps, bags, and cases.
- Inventory raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials, supplies, and pallets. Record the number of pallets received/shipped on pallets inventory sheets and route the sheets to the accounting department.
- Post daily receipts of raw materials and other purchased items into the ERP Receiving Module.
- Record lot numbers of packaging materials set in the packaging staging area.
- Remove samples of materials, label with identifying information, and take samples to laboratory for analysis.
- Sample railcars, cola trucks, and barges, labeling samples with proper information.
- Maintain the department Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Adhere to the plant Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP programs.
- Responsible for HACCP monitoring activities.
- Comply with HR policies and procedures.
- Comply with relevant employment laws.
- Comply with the Safety requirements of the plant.
- Sweep plant exterior grounds.
- Other duties as assigned.
A combination of the listed skills and knowledge is preferred
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate specific computer software and related hardware.
- Forklift operator’s license.
- Demonstrates basic math skills.
- Experience in the food processing or pharmaceutical industries.
- Ability to operate a shrink-wrap machine.
- Ability to operate an IBM AS/400 mainframe computer.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- May be required to train new employees assigned to the department.
