Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histo Tech to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring that all laboratory processes comply with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Open the laboratory for daily operations, checking temperatures and all equipment; document findings.
- Receive tissue specimens and accurately enter them into the logbook.
- Process tissue specimens for sectioning and perform sectioning of tissues.
- Stain slides, coverslip, and label slides for microscopic examination.
- Conduct Mohs micrographic frozen tissue slide preparation.
- Log in all incoming consultation slides and prepare them for the surgeon.
- Log in pathology reports, accession, and pull charts for surgeon review.
- File slides and blocks systematically to ensure easy retrieval.
- Maintain order in the laboratory and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Order laboratory supplies and store them appropriately.
- Dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or medical director.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science (minimum of 6 credit hours in sciences).
- 1 years of histology or clinical pathology lab experience required.
- Previous experience in cutting tissue is essential.
- Certification in Histology
- High degree of organization and responsiveness.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on building relationships with vendors and staff.
- Excellent customer service skills to support all stakeholders.
