Job Title: K-2 Reading Tutor
Position Overview: We are seeking qualified tutors to provide personalized reading support to K-2 students in the Bibb County School District. This position focuses on improving reading abilities of students who require additional academic assistance and instruction in literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide, personalized reading support to K-2 students on a weekly basis
- Implement effective reading tutoring strategies to improve student learning and reading performance
- Work with referred students throughout the school year to ensure sustained support
- Utilize science of reading-based instructional methods
- Track and measure student progress using valid and reliable reading assessments
- Coordinate with school staff regarding student referrals and progress
Work Schedule:
- Position follows the elementary school schedule: 8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
- Services are conducted during regular school hours
- Commitment for the remainder of the '24-'25 academic year preferred
Required Qualifications:
- Must complete required training in the science of reading
- Must pass vendor's vetting and training procedures
- Experience in improving educational outcomes for disadvantaged students preferred
- Strong understanding of effective reading tutoring strategies
- Ability to deliver measurable improvements in student reading performance
Location:
- Various elementary schools within the Bibb County School District (38 school locations)
Contract Terms:
- One-year contract with the possibility of three renewals, subject to funding and district needs
