Temporary Analytics and Materials Characterization Position Job Description We are seeking an Associate Chemist to work in the X-ray Diffraction Section of the Analytics and Materials Characterization Group in Iselin New Jersey. The position requires someone with hands-on academic or industrial experience in materials characterization. Experience in the analysis of inorganic materials using X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy would be considered a plus as is a Bachelors Degree in a scientific field. With training and guidance, the position will require some data interpretation and report writing. Other required skills : - Ability to cross train in other analytical techniques, like X-ray fluorescence- Working independently with minimum supervision- Multitasking- Documentation of results- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint- Instrument maintenance This position is anticipated to be a six month long temporary position.

Our mission in Analytics and Materials Characterization is to partner with our customers to increase knowledge. We accomplish this by providing high quality, reliable data and solutions. The Wet Chemistry Elemental Analysis lab is a high volume and fast paced group, providing accurate elemental analysis in reasonable time.
Purpose of the Job
To provide customers with quantitative elemental information for submitted samples. Imformation produced is vital for Client, helping researchers develop new and better materials, assisting manufacturing with quality control, supporting lawyers for intellectual property rights, and finding evidence as to the cause of product failures.
Principal Responsibilities
Perform sample preparation procedures for all materials produced by R&D including battery materials, zeolites, and catalysts (automotive, environmental, chemical, and petroleum).
Analyze preperations via ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatography, XRF, and gravimetric methods
Maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of reported data
Report data to researchers through LIMS system
Investigate non-conforming data and institute corrective actions
Assist in development of new wet chemistry and instrument methods to match researcher's needs
Prepare calibration standards and other working and reference solutions
Adhere to ISO9001 guidelines and ASI quality policy
Knowledge and Experience

Experience working with concentrated acids (HF, HClO
