Job Title : Community Resilience Specialist Location : North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Overview : The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking three () dedicated and experienced Community Resilience Specialists to join our team. This role focuses on enhancing community resilience in the North Central Texas region, with special consideration for disadvantaged communities. The project will be completed in three phases, involving collaboration with various stakeholders, including local community leaders, emergency managers, and voluntary organizations. These positions are grant funded and will be full-time, temporary through a temp agency. Funding is expected to last until September . Key Responsibilities :
- Increase awareness of locally significant threats and hazards across the community through training, workshops, and exercises.
- Coordinate with the Community Preparedness Program (CPP) working group and provide trainings, update the regional public education campaign KnoWhatDo in coordination with the public education working group, and enhance information sharing between emergency managers, community leaders, and local voluntary organizations.
- Develop a Language Access Toolkit to aid in emergency response plan revisions and provide guidance on deploying language assistance services.
- Enhance emergency response and evacuation plans with a focus on community resilience, climate change impact, and the needs of vulnerable populations.
- Develop an equity survey to collect data on the needs of vulnerable populations during evacuations and create plans to ensure equity.
- Conduct a risk insurance public survey and develop a regional planning considerations document based on survey results.
- Organize workshops and table-top exercises to share best practices and highlight areas prone to climate change impacts.
- Host a two-day community resilience workshop to showcase deliverables, best practices, and areas for improvement. Qualifications :
- Proven experience in emergency preparedness, community resilience, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of climate change impacts and the needs of vulnerable populations is a plus.
