Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the Sales organization and its customers in determining the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions. Each day, you will serve as a key technical resource in the assigned area. You will also showcase your expertise by preparing technical descriptions for the applied products and technology.
The work model for the role is: hybrid
This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions division in North America.
You will be mainly accountable for:
ABB's Distribution Solutions Division facilitates the efficient and reliable distribution, protection and control of power by improving electric power quality while strengthening the resilience of the grid. The Division offers segment-specific products and solutions that largely serve utilities, industry and infrastructure segments, often providing the requisite medium voltage link between high-voltage transmission systems and low-voltage users. With ABB Ability™ enabled connected solutions at its core, the offering includes medium-voltage air- and gas-insulated switchgear (1 to 66 kilovolts), indoor and outdoor circuit breakers, reclosers, fuses, contactors, relays, instrument transformers, sensors, motor control centers, as well as low-voltage switchgear for the ANSI standard markets.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Clarifies offered and sold scope to the customers and addresses their questions, ensuring an engineering approval on time, aligned with the project schedule.
- Informs the product group, Sales team, Marketing, Engineering, Project manager, and factories on technical support, customer feedback, quality, trends, and limitations.
- Provide sales and Project management support and participate in customer meetings on request.
- Supports marketing programs.
- Drives technical solutions across the offering line.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or 10 years plus of experience.
- Proven experience in electrical design and engineering, preferably in control and medium voltage power systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
- Handling difficult conversations with customers and colleagues in North America.
- High English proficiency.
- Power systems and protection & control knowledge.
- Deep knowledge of the factory process and limitations.
- Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in reading interpreting substation SLD, with focus on medium voltage switchgear product.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
