What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerical Front Office Practice Asst position at Abbeville Area Medical Center?
Job Summary
Is responsible for answering and directing phone calls received at the Practice, utilizing excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills. Greets and registers patients upon arrival. Checks insurance eligibility and loads accurate demographics in the practice management (PM) system. Collects co-payments, co-insurance and/or patient balances and posts those payments in the PM. Balances all funds and cash drawer utilizing end-of-day processes. Makes appointments for patients as well as recall management. Checks voice mail, messages in the EHR and email. Responds to them in a timely manner, maintains current files ensuring ease of retrieval.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement
Must be a high school graduate or have a GED Diploma.
Minimum Experience Requirement
One year's prior experience in a physician office or medical setting preferred.
Minimum License Requirement
CMA preferred, but not required
Physical Requirement/Working Conditions
This position requires extensive sitting and the ability to hear within normal range to take phone messages. The ability to use a keyboard and input into a data system. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
