Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant/Unit Secretary provides compassionate patient care to a diverse age group of patients with a variety of medical and/or surgical conditions. This individual provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other patient care team members including the patient and family, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Nursing Assistant assists with activities of daily living and delegated patient care treatments and procedures. The Nursing Assistant has access to confidential patient information, and carries out their assignments under the guidance of a licensed nurse. The Nursing Assistant/Unit Secretary also works as a Unit Secretary when requested.

Minimum Education Requirement

High school graduate or equivalent.

Minimum Experience Requirement

Prefer at least 2 years of CNA experience. Basic computer skills.

Minimum License Requirement

Current CNA certificate required. BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirement/Working Conditions

May have irregular hours and long periods of standing. Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will seek assistance when heavier objects need to be lifted. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
