Job Summary:
The Nursing Home Scheduler ensures that nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and other healthcare professionals, are scheduled efficiently to meet the needs of patients. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage staff availability while adhering to policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Scheduling:
- Create, manage, and update daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for nursing home staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ensure that staffing levels comply with the nursing home’s requirements, budget, and regulatory standards.
- Work with department heads and supervisors to address scheduling conflicts or staffing shortages.
Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact for staff to report absences, changes in availability, or other scheduling issues.
- Communicate schedule changes, updates, and staffing needs to all nursing staff in a timely manner.
Time Management:
- Monitor and track employee attendance and punctuality.
- Assist with managing overtime, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure that staffing schedules meet state and federal regulations related to staffing ratios, labor laws, and licensing requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of shifts worked, time-off requests, and any other relevant scheduling documentation.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Prior experience in scheduling, preferably in a healthcare setting (e.g., nursing homes, hospitals).
- Experience with scheduling software or healthcare management systems is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and staffing requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scheduling software.
- Full-time position, with the possibility of weekend or evening shifts depending on scheduling needs.
- Work in a fast-paced, healthcare environment.
