What are the responsibilities and job description for the Linux Cloud Engineer (Fairfax VA) position at ABBTECH Professional Resources?
We are seeking engineers with a strong Linux background and commercial cloud experience (e.g., AWS) to set up instances for deploying applications in a hybrid cloud environment. As we expand our commercial cloud presence, we're looking for engineers who can work with vanilla Kubernetes and recommend approaches while leveraging automation. This role requires U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret / TS clearance.
- Objectives :
- Maintain and upgrade existing Kubernetes clusters within commercial cloud environments.
- Prevent incidents and manage cloud infrastructure while assisting clients with Kubernetes development and testing prior to operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and enhance user experiences.
- Must Haves :
- Experience rapidly setting up / standing up environments (e.g., EC2 instances) and managing various AWS services (e.g., DynamoDB, CloudWatch).
- Linux OS
- Strong proficiency with Linux system architectures, especially Amazon Linux and RHEL 9.
- Scripting
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as BASH and Python for automation.
- Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Experience managing containers inside Kubernetes pods and creating, deploying, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
- Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks in parallel and effectively communicate technical concepts with team members and clients.
- Experience with patching, vulnerability / compliance scans, and mitigating critical patches.
- Familiarity with change management tools such as Puppet / Hiera.
- Experience with CI / CD processes, including managing GitLab projects and runners, container security scanning, and Harbor container management.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience working with Confluence and Jira
- Salary :
- 120-200K depending on years of experience.
