Our client is seeking a Project Financial Analyst who is motivated by variety, is seeking a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting an IT PMO for one of our large clients headquartered in New Jersey.
The Project Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing the financial needs and reports of an organization's project management system. They will be responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, and providing insights into the financial performance of projects.
Location : This position is located in Newark, NJ. Qualified candidate is preferred to be in a commutable distance and able to go into the office as needed. This team typically goes into the office 2 days a week
Responsibilities :
Portfolio level Governance and Reporting :
Prepare annual project budgets and monthly project forecasts
IT portfolio project consolidation reporting
Analyze cost drivers and monthly performance of project compared to forecast and budget
Actual cost analysis
Project metrics reporting
Risk Management (financial, project delivery, tracking operations and maintenance future costs resulting from Capital projects)
Develop the Financial Section of the monthly operational review package
Perform detailed analysis of real time monthly project expenditures to ensure costs are properly coded and identify project fiscal discrepancies
Project Level Governance and Support :
Challenge the project’s estimate-to-complete by following company procedures and ensuring risk and opportunities are managed to optimize the project financial targets
Project scheduling and financial controller guidance in accounting (accruals, journal entries, amortizations, depreciation etc.)
Supporting Project Managers / Controllers with project change requests
Works with Property Accounting in project set up.
Assist Project Team in developing / reviewing / implementing cost corrective actions & recovery plans
Guidance on contract issues
Assist with resolution of discrepancies through communications with vendors and / or departments
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other related discipline with 4 years of experience working in a project financial analyst role
Experience in developing databases to consolidate data from multiple sources
Must have experience with Smartsheet
Experience working with MS Project or Primavera (P6) and Project Web Access (PWA) or another similar SharePoint tool
Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
High degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and the remainder of the MS Office suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid understanding of Project Management and Project Management Office functions
Excellent researching, decision-making and organizational skills are required
Proven ability to strategically analyze data, provide comprehensive solutions to problems, and manage workload in order to meet customer needs
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and follows through on assignments with minimal direction while keeping the team informed
Works effectively in a collaborative team environment
Capacity to adapt to changing work priorities
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other guidelines where appropriate
Position Details :
- Pay Rate / Range : $30-$40.82
The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position’s responsibilities; the candidate’s experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions.
