Overview:
AbbVie Inc is embracing new paradigms and technologies to develop novel and life-changing therapies across a diverse range of therapeutic areas. The Quantitative, Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS) department at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated and energetic bioanalytical scientist to join the Biologics characterization and bioanalysis group. The main function of this position will be to perform qualitative and quantitative bioanalysis of large molecule biologics using mass spectrometry to support drug discovery and early development projects at AbbVie. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the optimization and implementation of novel and routine LC/MS-based bioanalytical methods to drive in-vivo PK, TK, and PK/PD as well as in-vitro stability characterization of large molecules. The candidate will be responsible for routine sample preparation, method development, bioanalytical assay operations, data analysis, writing reports, and presenting data at internal meetings.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Optimize and implement bioanalytical methods for identifying and quantifying antibody and antibody drug conjugates, proteins, peptides, and small molecules using LC-MS/MS.
- Routinely operate LC/MS and automation instrumentation, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Expert in immunoaffinity capture LCMS using automation for biologics stability evaluations.
- Continuously improve bioanalytical workflows efficiency and ensure laboratory capacity meets project demand. Writes and maintains Protocol and facilitate assay optimization and implementation to ensure data quality.
- Communicate data interpretation to QTAS colleagues and project teams.
- Utilize and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for study documentation.
Education/Experience:
Job level will be commensurate with experience
- Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or other related field. Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 3 or more years’ experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
- Highly motivated individual with a strong intellectual and technical background in preclinical DMPK and bioanalytical methods, specifically large molecule LC-MS/MS. Expertise in qualitative LC-MS analysis of large molecules.
- Deep and broad knowledge in analytical science and applied technologies. Direct hands-on experience and strong trouble shooting skills in LC/MS bioanalytical laboratory (High end QTOF MS, Triple quad MS, and automation).
- Knowledge in drug discovery and related disciplines. In-depth understanding of in-vitro assays as well as in vivo PK, tox studies and corresponding bioanalytical assays. Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze data using advanced software tools.
