Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School seeks an experienced, collaborative, and energetic instructional assistant to join the district for a position as the High School Special Education Instructional Assistant. Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School (AKFCS) provides an education to 1426 students in grades kindergarten through twelve, comprising an Elementary, Middle and High School. AKFCS values flexible educators who possess an optimistic, growth-oriented mindset regarding learning, for themselves, staff, and students. Support the mission of Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is to assist parents in their role as primary educators of their children by providing a classical liberal arts education grounded in the great works of Western Civilization and aimed at academic excellence, musical competence, and character formation.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Provide individualized and small group instruction to special education students under the direct supervision of the certified Special Educator.

Collaborate and communicate with the Classroom Teacher and Special Educator to align instruction to support learning / IEP goals.

Collect data to document progress on IEP / learning goals, as directed by the Special Educator and Classroom Teacher.

Monitor and assist special needs students in the classroom, during specials classes, during transitions, at recess, on field trips, and other settings.

Assist Classroom and Special Educators in the administration of all mandated state and district assessments, under the direct supervision of the Special Educator.

Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature. Share information only when recipient’s right to access is clearly established and sharing of such information is in the best interest of the student, per MA DESE, Federal, and District guidelines.

Build and maintain a safe, fair, and respectful learning environment that celebrates the diversity of the student population.

Maintain / enhance teaching skills by attending, and, where appropriate, participating in the development of continuing education programs.

Perform relevant tasks and duties assigned by the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.

Preferred Qualifications :

Associates degree

Current authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation :

Full Time Exempt Salary Position in accordance with the established Teacher’s Salary Scale. AKFCS also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following :
