Position :
The Airline Catering Driver is responsible for catering aircraft and transporting meals, beverage, and equipment to assigned flights. In addition, they are in charge of providing excellent customer airline service. Must have the ability to follow directions, meet tight deadlines, and interact / communicate with airline crew as necessary.
Abby's Catering provides food products to high-end aviation customers, and we're looking for the safest catering high loader driver.
Reports to : Lead Flight Coordinator
Essential functions :
- Load and unload trucks to cater to airlines.
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Communicate with the flight crew, maintain excellent customer relations with the customer.
- Work safely to prevent accidents to self and coworkers.
- Ensure flights are catered correctly and on time.
- Comply with all HACCP / GMP and sanitation for proper food handling policies and procedures.
- Comply with Ramp Safety policies and procedures, and safety vests must be worn while out on the field.
- Gather all necessary equipment for assigned flights.
- Verify flight documentation to ensure correct items are loaded before heading to the ramp.
- Interact with other Customer Service team members, flight attendants, and other airport operations members to identify and resolve problems.
- Comply with standard operating procedures regarding driving the truck to the aircraft, securing the work platform, loading and unloading trolleys on and off the planes.
- Assist with maintenance of the trucks as need it.
- Make sure the trucks are cleaned in a daily basis, assisting with the cleaning.
- Make sure spill kits are always updated.
- Make sure spill logs are always filled out correctly and are properly filed.
- Make sure Pre-trip Inspections are performed according to DOT regulations.
- Assist with daily warehouse tasks (filling beverage carts for the flights, replenishing working area, handover to WH crew the requisition sheet with the flight needs, etc)
- Assist to WH cleaning as need it.
- Assist on deadheading flight equipment, cleaning flight equipment as need it.

Requirements
Requirements, but not limited to : This position requires flexible work schedules within a 24 / 7 work environment. The airline catering industry is a seasonal business and certain peak times of the year are black out periods for PTO (paid time off), e.g. year end, summer. This position requires experience driving, some logistic knowledge, and food safety knowledge.
Qualifications
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CDL Class B
Driving record required.
Meticulous time management skills with the ultimate attention to detail, NO aircraft departure delays due to catering delivery!
Job description includes partially working in a cold room environment and physical work like pushing carts and lifting weight daily.
Excellent customer service, presentation, and communication skills.
Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug screens, and a criminal background check including all TSA, Customs, and State Police requirements to obtain airfield access.
Must be able to work safely from heights.
1-2 years of truck driving experience.
Fluent in English, bilingual Spanish speaking is a big plus.
Vision occurs continuously, with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Most work is performed outdoors. Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, and heat, with protective clothing.
Must be able to follow and abide by all safety and security requirements.
Must be able to perform work using required PPE (personal protective equipment), including but not limited to protective gloves, cooler / freezer gloves, hot mitts, cut resistant gloves, protective aprons, protective goggles, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and all required PPE.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Therefore, employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
