SUMMARY
Abbyland Foods Inc. operates a wastewater treatment plant in Abbotsford, WI which receives and treats process and sanitary wastewater from meat processing and other facilities in Abbotsford and Curtiss, WI. The position is highly responsible for all wastewater plant operations. Supervise wastewater employees and planning the daily activities of the Wastewater Plant. Ensure wastewater limits are being met daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Organizing, planning, assigning, and supervising Wastewater Treatment Plant employees. This specifically Includes work assignment for the WWTP Operators. Monitors process activities, maintenance, and repair activities. May be required to develop procedures and programs to organize, plan and direct these activities. Work with lab staff and Plant Engineer and General Manager of Maintenance.
- Responsible for managing operational, monitoring, and reporting requirements under the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES).
- Operational knowledge of mechanical and biological wastewater systems including Grit and Solids Removal, Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), Membrane Bio Reactors (MBR), Equalization, Chemical Treatment, Solids Dewatering, Aerobic and Anaerobic Digestion.
- Maintains, updates, and becomes familiar with plant operation and maintenance manuals.
- Work with the Maintenance Planner to keep plant maintenance records and prepares maintenance PM schedules for routine activities such as oil changes, greasing and backup equipment.
- Maintains the inventory of all spare parts used at the plant.
- Reports operation and maintenance problems to the Director of Operations.
- Manages Bio Solids Program regarding monitoring work activities, sludge application rates and volumes, equipment maintenance and required DNR reporting.
- Recommends purchase of major repairs and maintenance tools, supplies and equipment.
- Develops and implements a plan to train employees in the proper operation, maintenance, and repairs of all Treatment plan unit processes.
- Performs annual employee evaluations of Plant Employees
- Reviews plant operating data daily and confers with plant operators regarding proper plant operation.
- May occasionally prepare written reports or memorandums concerning plant operation or maintenance activities.
- Any other special projects or additional activities as directed during or after the regular workday.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate internally with production, maintenance, quality departments and externally with vendors, contractors, regulators and governmental entities on wastewater related projects and issues. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises 2 supervisors and oversees about 7 employees.

EDUCATION
Associate degree (A.A.; A.S.) in a related discipline from a two-year college or technical school
EXPERIENCE
Five years related experience or training in the operation and maintenance of a comparable wastewater treatment plant.
