Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate School person to join our afterschool team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting personal growth for al children . This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to engage children in meaningful learning experiences. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with all staff and parents to ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed.
Duties
- Supervise and engage children in a variety of recreational and educational activities.
- ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
- Maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines as required.
- Work well as a team member
- Open communication with families
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with Vermont Early Learning standards.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and school-wide initiatives.
- Supervise students during various activities, including recess, lunch, and field trips.
Qualifications
- 3 credit college class or a 45 hour fundamentals class is preferred:
- Be willing to complete either a 3 credit college class or a 45 hour fundamentals course
- As per center policy, all employees must complete a minimum of 50 hours professional development yearly, maintain current 1st aid and CPR certification, and complete the following training's:
- VT orientation training
- Mandated reporting
- Medication administration
- Basic specialized care
- ACT 1 - What is Child Sexual Abuse
- STRONG Trainings
- All guidelines and policies set in the staff handbook must also be followed, including being familiar with the Child Care Licensing Regulations set forth by the state of Vermont. All employees must be able to pass a background records check and fingerprint check.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
- First aid certification is a plus.
