ABC11/WTVD, the ABC Owned Television station in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, North Carolina, is seeking a meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team. This person must have an engaging on-air presence and a commanding, authoritative delivery. The ideal candidate will be able to translate weather data into conversational and relatable information for our multi-platform audience. The person must have experience covering severe weather on live television utilizing the latest technology and resources.

Responsibilities:
Forecast local weather conditions for Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville and Central Carolina
Prepare relevant weather maps and innovative graphics to communicate the weather forecast and expected impacts
Present the live weather forecast across multiple platforms
Communicate life-saving information to the audience during severe weather
Analyze weather observations to identify important atmospheric features
Utilize computer model data to produce accurate forecast
Possesses a knowledge of atmospheric dynamics and tropical meteorology
Proficient in producing compelling weather graphics through IBM’s Max software
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience of broadcasting in a small or medium market
Education:
Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology or associated geoscience preferred
