POSITION SUMMARY

Assistant Production Manager plays a key role in supporting the Production Manager in achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, and driving operational excellence within the automotive parts manufacturing plant.

Job Responsibilities:

Supervising Production: They oversee the day-to-day manufacturing activities, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining quality standards and adhering to safety protocols.

Scheduling and Planning: They assist in creating production schedules, allocating resources such as manpower, materials, and equipment effectively to optimize production efficiency. Schedule floor resources to meet daily workload. Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures while considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.

Inventory Management: They monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, coordinating with procurement and logistics teams to ensure adequate stock levels and timely delivery of materials.

Quality Control: They work closely with quality control personnel to implement and maintain quality assurance processes, identifying and addressing any issues or deviations from quality standards. Meet the expectations and standards set forth by IATF16945 and ISO14001

Problem-solving: They troubleshoot production problems and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.
Documentation & Audits: Responsible for making sure that all documentation is current and being filled out accurately. Conducts audits in the area to ensure standards are being followed.

Training and Development: They assist in training and developing production staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.

Process Improvement: They contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Develop standardized work procedures that will maximize productivity and minimize errors. Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime. Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations. Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.

Communication: They liaise with other departments such as engineering, maintenance, and logistics to coordinate activities and resolve any cross-functional issues that may arise. Coordinate the flow of information needed to all departments in a timely manner. Provide feedback and suggestions for continual improvement to ensure a smooth-running department and overall operation. Keeps team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives. Communicate with all shifts to ensure all applicable information is transferred between shifts
Safety Compliance: They ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among production staff, implementing measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Management: Provides strong leadership to the team. Set individual objectives, performance expectations, foster a culture of accountability, and drive continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development: Recruits, develops, and leads and mentor a high-performing team. Provide guidance on best practices, industry trends, and professional development.
Talent Development: Develops talent through training programs, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a production or supervisory role is often required. This could include roles such as production supervisor, team leader, or shift manager.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, stamping, machining, assembly, etc., is highly valued.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate production teams, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions clearly, liaise with other departments, and resolve conflicts.
  • Problem-solving: Aptitude for identifying production issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Organizational skills: Capacity to manage multiple priorities, create production schedules, and coordinate resources to meet deadlines.
  • Technical skills: Understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and quality control methods relevant to automotive parts production.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to ensure accuracy and precision in production processes to maintain quality standards and minimize defects.
  • Analytical skills: Capability to analyze production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, quality control, and logistics, to achieve common goals.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing production demands, implement new processes, and respond effectively to unexpected challenges.
  • Safety consciousness: Commitment to promoting a safe work environment, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
