As we continue to growth and build our product portfolio, we now has an opportunity for a Scientist to join our team in Waltham, MA, working to develop and optimize enzymatic biochemical and cell based assays for proteins used as kit components within Abcam. Specifically, you will design and execute laboratory experiments, generate, and interpret data to support the development of new assays, and ensure the enzymes function in the context of the kit.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and execute novel enzymatic and cell based assays.
- Design, develop, implement, and characterize experiments for enzymes used as a kit component
- Perform tissue culture as required for cell line maintenance.
- Develop quantitative criteria for product release.
- Communicate clearly with team members within the Protein Sciences Group, providing delivery dates and the necessary documentation as well as clearly presented data to support ongoing and completed work.
- Document experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, analyzing and presenting experimental data within internal meetings, and participate in the drafting and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain high quality standards within the lab; ensuring the facility is compliant with all internal and external quality standards, including ISO9001 (2015)
Qualifications
You will either have a Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, in bioengineering, biochemistry or biology.
You have a proven track-record in industry, thriving in a fast-paced environment with experience performing assays for recombinant proteins. You have a strong working knowledge of protein structure and design in order to engage in conversation with colleagues in those areas in order to troubleshoot your own work.
You will thrive in a fast paced environment and a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player. Your excellent communication skills and problem solving ability will be key to helping the team create and develop new products and reduce our cost of production in this exciting role.
