Job Description
ABCO Transportation has an immediate opportunity for a Diesel Shop Manager at our Ocala FL Shop.
Join our team as a Shop Manager that oversees staff and manages the day to day processes / procedures to ensure efficient repairs on all equipment that meets or exceeds company standards and DOT / FMCSA requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following
Responsible for hiring and managing staff in shop.
Responsible management of daily schedules and work assignments.
Supervise staff productivity and efficiency.
Manage productivity reports on staff and implement processes to reduce equipment downtime.
Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary processes as needed.
Oversee the training and development of staff.
Provide consultation assistance to mechanics on complex issues with diesel equipment repairs, components, reefers, trailers, APU's and all other applicable mechanical needs including electrical issues and diagnostics.
Supervise parts inventory and shop equipment.
Ensure maintenance shop and its associated facilities are in a state of operational readiness during its scheduled working hours.
Spot inspect and, if necessary, road test vehicles upon completion of work to insure quality of repairs performed.
Ensure the shop is well-maintained, clean, and organized at all times.
Oversee compliance of all OSHA, EPA & local, state and federal regulations and safety standard operating procedures.
Assist maintenance staff when workload demands.
Collaborate with other departments and address any inquiries regarding equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Class B UST training certification.
Proven experience in leadership and support skills.
Expert knowledge of garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and mechanical equipment.
Advance knowledge of reefer electrical and mechanical systems.
Expertise in diagnostics, repair and preventative maintenance of diesel trucks, APU's and reefer trailers
Ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors and suppliers.
Proven service background with knowledge of warranties.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partners.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; Spanish a plus.
Qualifications
Must have proven diesel shop leadership experience.
Minimum of 2 years of diesel shop supervisor experience.
Minimum of 5 years diesel repair experience - Thermo King units a plus.
ASE T2 Certification as a Master Truck Technician and / or Master Automotive Technician preferred.
Experience with Cummins and Peterbilt systems and diagnostic platforms.
