COBOL / DB2 / CICS Developer – Harrisburg, PA (Hybrid, Flexible Schedule)

Location : Harrisburg, PA (Must be a Pennsylvania resident)

Schedule : Hybrid – In-office one day per week, flexible schedule

Employment Type : Full-Time

Positions Available : 2

Salary Range : $60,000 – $100,000 (Depending on Experience)

Job Summary :

Abel Personnel is seeking two skilled COBOL / DB2 / CICS Developers to join our client’s team in Harrisburg, PA . The ideal candidates will have experience working with COBOL, DB2, and CICS in an enterprise environment and be comfortable developing, maintaining, and enhancing business applications. This role includes a hybrid work arrangement, requiring in-office presence one day per week while offering flexibility for the remainder of the schedule.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and maintain applications in a COBOL / DB2 / CICS environment based on business requirements.
• Assist in migrating and supporting the current system in a cloud-based environment while utilizing existing COBOL code.
• Design, code, and execute unit and functional tests to ensure software quality.
• Analyze and troubleshoot application issues and ensure accuracy in testing outcomes.
• Participate in code reviews and technical reviews to maintain coding standards and detect defects.
• Document all code modifications, technical procedures, and system workflows.
• Assist senior developers with task management, estimations, and prototyping .
• Maintain and manage code repositories in accordance with version control policies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with development efforts.
• Provide 24 / 7 rotating on-call support for production systems as needed.
• Support incident and problem management efforts, including debugging and applying system updates.
