Abel Personnel is seeking a Senior Network Engineer on behalf of our client, a premier federal IT services provider supporting mission-critical government operations. This is an on-site, full-time role based in Huntsville, Alabama, with a competitive salary of $130,000 and exceptional benefits. The selected candidate will support high-impact projects within the FBI’s Information Technology Infrastructure Division.
Security Clearance Requirement: Top Secret (active)
Position Overview
You will lead the deployment, evaluation, and sustainment of enterprise network systems. You’ll perform complex upgrades and configurations of routers, switches, and firewalls, and play a key role in developing and modernizing secure network architectures.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test Cisco network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Lead technical refresh efforts across LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Gather, document, and validate system requirements and architecture plans
- Troubleshoot complex networking issues using your in-depth understanding of protocols, topologies, and hardware
- Provide architectural design insight, feasibility, and cost studies
- Deliver high-touch support to end-users and stakeholders while ensuring mission continuity
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams on secure deployment strategies
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of progressive IT experience specializing in Cisco LAN/WAN technologies
- Strong understanding of internetworking principles, topology design, and IP protocol suites
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Experience with device configuration and validation in secure, high-availability environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Cisco CCNA certification (strongly preferred)
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN, DNAC, and other advanced Cisco enterprise technologies
