Garden Center Retail Sales

Sales Associate - Closer - Full- Time 40hrs/week, $15/hour

·Week Day Closer will work as part of the sales team with the added responsibility of closing the shop at 6pm five days/week. This position requires the candidate to be reliable for their scheduled shift and to follow closing procedures like closing the cash register and locking the building.

· Every sales associate’s top priority is customer care. Sales associates will be knowledgeable of inventory, services offered, and standard Abell plant care practices so they may be effective both in customer care and plant production. Sales Associates will assist customers both in person and on the phone, with a friendly demeaner towards customers and coworkers while remaining accountable, informed, and respectful.

· Each sales associate should aim to help any customer with any task, including, but not limited to, answering questions about current inventory, physically helping customers carry, cart, or load materials, and assist customers in booking any of our services. Sales associates will be assisted by the loaders for handling of large or bulk material and will not be asked to lift more than they are capable.

· Sales associates will assist with the plant production and should be comfortable trimming, weeding, applying pesticides, potting, and otherwise providing necessary care for plants. Sales associates are encouraged to get creative and work with their supervisor to showcase beautiful plants or popular items.

· Behind the register, sales associates take special care with transactions and will be responsible for proper documentation for customer orders/requests. Sales associates will be trained on the POS system to quickly and efficiently access current inventory information and check out customers. Sales associates must be comfortable and effective with the phone to answer questions or otherwise direct calls or take detailed messages. Sales associates are not paid on commission but are rewarded for their tenacity in customer care, accumulation of plant knowledge, and flexibility to help where they are most needed.

· Each Sales Associate will be expected to work where they are most needed, either behind the register helping with customer flow or out in the retail space helping with plant production and care. Sales Associates will be expected to be prepared for all weather conditions and will accept that their schedule may change due to inclement weather. Successful sales associates are generally fast learners, have a passion for working outside, a keen attention to detail, and an ability to connect with each customer.
