About the role

Internal audit is a key function in the firm. Our purpose is to deliver independent insight and assurance to protect and positively influence abrdn and the future for our clients and customers. We support abrdn in accomplishing its goals and objectives by bringing a professional and constructive approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organisation's risk management, control and governance, as well as its risk culture.

Based primarily in Edinburgh, but with colleagues in London, Singapore and Frankfurt, we have a global remit and provide assurance to the Board, Audit Committees, and to the abrdn Executive. We have a great opportunity for a talented and experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our team in Edinburgh. Reporting to the Senior Audit Manager, you’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering internal audit reviews of our Investments business.

The Internal Audit Manager (Investments) position at abrdn is a high-impact position that focuses on providing independent insight and assurance to safeguard the company’s objectives and future. As part of the internal audit team, you will be directly involved in managing and executing risk-based audits across the Investments business, ensuring that the organisation’s risk management, governance, and control measures are effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stakeholder Relationships: You'll be managing senior stakeholder relationships, providing valuable audit insights, and ensuring that audit coverage is aligned with the critical risks faced by abrdn.

• Leadership in Audit Execution: The role involves leading a portfolio of investments audits, managing resources, and prioritising work to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

• Root Cause Analysis: You'll identify issues' root causes, propose practical solutions, and maintain audit independence, ensuring that your findings are balanced and accurate.

• Reporting: You'll be responsible for writing clear, impactful reports to communicate complex findings to senior stakeholders.

• Team Development: The role also includes mentoring junior colleagues, helping them grow, and contributing to their career development.

• Innovation: The position offers opportunities to embrace new digital tools and practices to continuously improve processes within the audit function.

About the candidate

• Extensive experience in audit roles (internal or external), with some leadership experience.

• Qualified Accountant/Auditor (CA, ACCA, or IIA)

• Familiarity with financial services or investment-related audits preferable

• Strong communication, strategic thinking, risk management, and project management abilities are essential for success in this role.
