General responsibilities and qualifications are outlined in the para-educator job description. May perform basic education, Title 1, Migrant, ESL, LAP, ECEAP, day care and special education duties including one-on-one responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or equivalent, AND successful completion of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) ParaPro Assessment, OR 72 quarter or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education (official transcript is required), OR an Associate's (or higher) degree (official transcript is required.)
- Post high school training in child development and related training desired.
- Ability to handle students with behavioral and physical handicapping conditions. Candidate must be willing to be trained in behavioral management strategies specifically designed for this student.
- Physical ability to perform required duties which may include lifting and positioning students in and out of a vehicle, wheelchair, therapy equipment, etc.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the general public.
- Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage.
- General knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, and ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, fax machine, and photocopier.
- Bilingual / Spanish speaking preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

May be required to complete training in First Aid and CPR if required by the District.
FBI and Washington State Patrol background clearance required.
