Sr. Mechanical Engineer – New York State
ABGI Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-established architecture and engineering firm in New York and is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. This role will focus on leading mechanical engineering projects, overseeing system designs, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, along with a strong understanding of industry codes and best practices.
Day in the Life:
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Lead and perform engineering evaluations, field inspections, design drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimations.
- Conduct mechanical engineering analysis of building mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, applying the latest codes and technologies.
- Oversee the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for various projects, including schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings.
- Serve as a technical expert, coaching and mentoring junior engineers to enhance their technical and professional growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams and project stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and high-quality deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, including NYS Mechanical, Energy, and Plumbing codes, as well as NFPA guidelines.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Certification: Professional Engineering (PE) license in New York State (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of post-college experience in mechanical engineering.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of chilled and hot water systems, HVAC controls, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Preferred Experience: HVAC and plumbing design for schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial projects.
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with NYS Mechanical, Energy, and Plumbing codes, NFPA standards, and energy modeling tools (Carrier HAP, TRANE TRACE, or EQUEST).
- Additional Skills: LEED Green Associate certification and commissioning experience preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Professional office environment with occasional travel to job sites across New York State.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
