About the Role:
The Executive Steward at Abigail Kirsch is responsible for overseeing all back of house operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management. This includes kitchen equipment maintenance, cleaning supplies, uniforms, linen, kitchen supplies, and small wares. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a stewarding department and possess technical knowledge to operate, repair, and maintain BOH equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, coach, counsel, train, and conduct performance evaluations of staff
- Monitor staffing levels and create weekly labor schedules for ware washers and stewards
- Implement, maintain, and monitor department SOP's and develop new ones as needed
- Oversee set up, break down, and maintenance of Associate Cafeteria
- Responsible for the organization, cleaning, sanitation standards, and consistent maintenance of all back of house areas
Requirements:
- 3-4 years of experience managing a stewarding department or equivalent in similar business
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with staff, management, clients, and vendors
- Knowledge of Excel and Word required, with ability to problem solve and multitask
- New York State Food Handlers Certification or related food safety training knowledge preferred
